I am in love with a book called ‘Soul Craving’…and so I decided that I would share some of the points that one of the entries made. It is talking about love, and how we too often sell love short. We are so quick to give our heart and soul to someone, just so we do not feel alone. But, when we do that, we end up feeling more alone in the end, because we were selling our soul and body for temporary acceptance and “love”. The book says, “we live in a world of users where we abuse each other to dull the pain of our aloneness”. We all want acceptance and to feel loved by others, and we are willing to be used in order to feel that for a short period of time. “Love isn’t about volume. Love isn’t about conquest. When we live like this, there’s something deeper going on inside of us that we’re trying to ignore, even drown out.” There is only one who can completely satisfy us, and that is being connected to the One who created us. God created love to be a gift, not to be used to hurt others. Whether you are the one using or being used, we are all created for so much more! The truth is, people use the game in order to protect themselves from feeling anything and from falling in love. The author of the book said, “I’ve come to find over time that players are the ones who are most afraid.” Love is about cherishing one person, not about playing the field to see how many people you can get to “fall for you”. People rush to be in relationships to feel comfort and acceptance, but allowing God’s timing to be the main focus is what will make all the difference. When we allow ourselves to be distracted by others just to feel accepted for a moment, we are missing out on what God has waiting for us. We are all not created to be married, but for those who are. He has someone special for those people- and it’s about being patient, trusting in God, and not allowing yourself to be distracted by those who will 'just be a waste of time’. Focus on God and I promise you, you will not feel alone and you will feel completely accepted.
